Author Jackie Phamotse made an appearance on the SABC 1 reality TV show, One Day Leader. She spoke around the topic of ‘blessers’, a pressing issue which surrounds our South African youth.
One Day Leader is a youth based reality TV series where six young people showcase their leadership skills by tackling modern day South African social, economic and political issues.
Jackie Phamotse released her new book titled ‘Bare’. The book aimed to create debate around the dangers of young women getting involved in toxic romantic relationships, including ‘blessers’. It is a fictional story that is based on her life as a model and blessee prior to her success in the business sector.
Jackie has dedicated her book to the late Karabo Mokoena who was allegedly suffered abuse from her boyfriend and as a result ended up dead.
“All I want is to share my story with young girls because many of them are trapped in abusive relationships at the expense of luxurious lifestyles.”
Jackie’s appearance on the show, along with the pressing topic, caused a great deal of debate on social media. It has shown us, that the issue of the ‘blesser’ really is a pressing issue among our youth.
