Redi Thlabi's life was changed when she met Sisanda Msekele at her book launch in 2012. Sisanda is a very special lady, she is blind but hasn't let that stop her from pursuing her dreams.
She holds a Masters Degree in Anthropology and is studying towards a PhD, she inspired the nation with her story. Thlabi met up with Sisanda again and was blown away by the latest developments in the blind girl's life.
Briefly.co.za learned that with the aid of an Orcam device, Sisanda has been given the gift of reading. A pleasure that she was denied for a very long time. The device allows blind and partially sigheted people the ability to recognise objects, faces and gives them the ability to read.
Thlabi and Sisanda have become close friends since their first meeting in 2015.
Sisanda's story reached South African's in when Thlabi interviewed her. Sisanda was born fully-sighted but lost her eyesight after an allergic reaction to medication when she was 9-years-old.
He journey has not been easy and she has had to overcome all the obstacles that accompany a fully sighted university student.
