On Tuesday, a lady, who was only identified by her Twitter handle @amkec40, took to the social media platform to post photos of herself.

In the caption, @amkec40 told Mzansi to "excuse" her background, which she referred to as "the bundus".

"I'm in the bundus guys, excuse the background," she captioned the post.

However, gathered South Africans pointed out that the background appeared to look like a township, not the wilderness.

Her post led to "The Bundus" trending on Twitter and @amkec40 was roasted for being ashamed of where she came from.

Twitter user, @AngelineDikoko, commented: "My mom would break if I called her hard work the bundus, yuhhh! ...your parents/guardians are still in the bundus so that you can today speak the English that you do, take the photos that you do with the phone. I hope you never pull a stunt like this, I'm certain it would crush your mom."
Another tweep, @tru_wongazee, added: "If it wasn't for the bundus you wouldn't have that pretty English, that nice car and that fake smile... Tsek akhonto iyibundus futhi."
