Vitbooi, 44, was arrested by the Hawks on Friday. In 2017 she had requested R10 000 from the municipality for a funeral for three members of a family who died in a shack fire.

The request was granted and the money was paid into the account of the family. It was then alleged that Vitbooi asked the family to hand over half of the money to her, which they did.
