Coronavirus: Juju calls for the arrest of Bishop Bheki Ngcobo

- Julius Malema has called for the arrest of a South African Zionist Church leader

- The EFF leader said Bheki Ngcobo should be taken into custody with immediate effect

- This follows the bishop vowing to defy President Cyril Ramaphosa's rules on mass gatherings to stop the spread of the coronavirus

Julius Malema has called on the South African Police Service (SAPS) to immediately take South African Zionist Church leader Bheki Ngcobo into custody.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has "prohibited" the mass gatherings of more than 100 people but that doesn't seem to have fazed Bishop Bheki Ngcobo.

Ngcobo has called on the members of the South African Zionist Church to show up in numbers at the Easter services.

Briefly.co.za reported the religious leader plans on gathering thousands to "fight" the disease and he completely ignored Ramaphosa's instructions.

Malema has since taken to social media to slam the bishop's statements and plans, which could expose thousands to possible Covid-19 infection.

The EFF leader wrote on Twitter:

"Arrest him with immediate effect @SAPoliceService."

South Africans agreed with Juju and felt that Bishop Ngcobo was putting lives at risk with his behaviour.

Social media user, @DjMjora, commented:

"He must be charged for treason, undermining the orders of the CIC, attempted murder."

Meanwhile, earlier Briefly.co.za reported that Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has revealed grim expectations for South Africa.

In the midst of a national disaster, the minister revealed estimates for the spread of the coronavirus predict a dire situation.

Mkhize estimates that over half the population, between 60% and 70%, is expected to contract the virus.
