The lockdown has proved to be challenging for many people living in South Africa. People are used to move around freely and the orders to stay home have hit hard. However, it appears the ban on alcohol has pushed people to their breaking point.

On Sunday, South Africa Live shared a video on Facebook showing a group of locals in Langa, Cape Town, looting a bottle store.

The clip managed to get over 194 000 views in just 21 hours and South Africans were shocked and disgusted by the behaviour.

Jason Ja commented:

"Everyone laughing at this... eish. Wait until the numbers start to hit the 300 thousands. Not so funny when lawlessness prevails on your own doorstep. But laugh."

George Leeson said:

"Was bound to happen and will get worse!"

Tshepo Maseko Tebogo wrote:

"Unfortunately that's how it going to be in future... remember coronavirus brings about death, hunger and most importantly job losses."

Peter Short added:

"Nothing more than a total disgrace our youth and locals, but this is what they do best, take, whatever you can for nothing, great shame for the shop owners."

It's not the first time a bottle store was looted during the lockdown. Briefly.co.za reported last week that a booze shop was broken into and robbed.

The man filming and worker cleaning up discussed the reason behind the looting of booze. The man said Ramaphosa was the problem because he prohibited the sale of alcohol.

However, Bheki Cele is all for the alcohol ban and if he could have his way, it would be extended past the lockdown period.

The Police Minister made it clear that he won't be backing down on alcohol and cigarette bans during the current lockdown.
