In other news about strangers and kindness, Briefly.co.za reported on when a selfless young woman risked her own life to save an elderly lady.

Xolelani Sibanda shared her inspiring story to Facebook group, #ImStaying recently. A breast cancer sufferer, Xolelani helped an elderly woman who fainted at a grocery store. Xolelani said people had stepped aside when the elderly lady passed out as they feared contracting Covid-19. Without hesitation, Xolelani checked the elderly lady's pulse and proceeded to phone an ambulance before contacting the lady's daughter.

A couple of days later, Xolelani did not feel well and went to the hospital. It was then that she found out she had contracted the virus. Xolelani is on radiation treatment for her breast cancer so she would be considered a high-risk patient. However, she still said it was worth saving the elderly lady's life.

Xolelani's post read: "Hello, Stayers. Three weeks ago I went to the mall to get my sons nappies and milk. While I was in Shoprite waiting to pay, an elderly lady in front of me just fell down and everyone moved away from the lady. I knelt down to see if she was still breathing, and yes she had a pulse."

The post continued on the explanation of managing to get the elderly lady to the hospital and ended with:

"After two days I started feeling sick and went to the hospital. I tested positive for Covid-19. The elderly lady is out of ICU and recovering well from Covid-19. Though I contracted Covid-19 it was worth it because I saved her life. Yesterday I got my results and I'm negative. I was scared since I'm on radiation treatment for breast cancer but I always prayed for healing and for this I'm staying."
