Since South Africa went into an adjusted Level 3 of the lockdown, alcohol was banned and citizens were displeased with the situation. People in the country have been hoping that alcohol will be allowed to be purchased soon but Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says that is not on the cards yet.

Dr Mkhize said that the liquor ban has been providing huge relief to hospitals and he hopes that the ban continues for a bit longer to fight the virus.

"There is actually a huge relief that has come from the suspension of the sale of alcohol because most of those trauma cases are linked to irresponsible consumption of alcohol, irresponsible behaviour based on the consumption of alcohol," said Mkhize.
