"Poor Attempt": Ndlozi, Other Politicians React to Budget Speech 2021

- While Mboweni and his team seemed confident and optimistic, other politicians were not so much

Today South Africa's Finance Minister Tito Mboweni delivered the country's annual budget speech and along with it the changes he will be implementing to help shape South Africa's economy for the better.
After the much-anticipated speech was delivered, other local politicians shared their thoughts on the speech, namely the EFF's Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, Herman Mashaba, and former DA leader, Mmusi Maimane.
Speaking in an interview with a local broadcaster, Ndlozi can be heard saying that the budget speech for this year is a poor attempt to fix an ailing economy. He also said that the budget speech, like the ones before this year, has been filled with promises that never get fulfilled.
While Herman Mashaba had this to say:
"Minister @tito_mboweni , when you cook, if your spice to meat ratio is as high as 88%, your meal goes in the bin...Now, it is the same for a country. When our debt-to-GDP ratio climbs to 88% in 2023/24, & your government STILL hasn't cut costs, our country will be in the bin..."
Mmusi Maimane, just like the other opposition politicians did not have anything good to say about the speech.
"It’s a dark day for poor South Africans in terms of #Budget2021. Poor increases to welfare, increase in fuel levy, energy and soon municipal rates. It’s tough with a bloated gov, that has borrowed unsustainably. We have no priorities or urgency. We need change and change soon!"

Briefly.co.za earlier reported that during the 2021 national budget speech on Wednesday, Finance Minister Tito Mboweni announced the government's financial plans for 2021. Mboweni announced that corporate income tax will be lowered by 27%.
The minister also spoke about the increase of the personal income tax bracket, fuel levies and an increase in excise duties (sin tax) on alcohol and tobacco.
R83.2 billion has been cumulatively made available for public employment programmes since the 2020 Special Adjustments Budget. R11 billion is being augmented for the Presidential Youth Employment initiative.
