Bafana Bafana will face the tiny island nation of Seychelles twice in October in qualifying matches for the 2019 African Cup of Nations. Stuart Baxter will be keen to collect maximum points against the Islanders.

Bafana was held to a shock draw by Libya in Durban last month to continue their poor run of form in qualifying matches. The side has in recent years become known for choking against less fancied opposition teams.

TimesLive.co.za reported that if Bafana manages to win their two matches against Seychelles the team will be on 10 points in their group and almost certain of qualifying for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Briefly.co.za takes a look at five players which Stuart Baxter and his technical side should consider to bolster the Bafana Bafana line-up.

1. Ayanda Patosi – Cape Town City

Patosi faces many challenges which include his ongoing battle against the bulge and is very temperamental at times. His talent is beyond doubt as his recent performances have proved.

Perhaps the added responsibility of playing for Bafana will serve to motivate Patosi to get his act together and polish his rough spots into the gleaming gem which is hiding just below the surface.

2. Xola Mlambo – Orlando Pirates

Mlambo has been in prolific form in recent times as his collection of man-of-the-match awards proves. The technical team at Orlando Pirates believe (with good reason) Mlambo is one of the best midfielders in South Africa at the moment.

Mlambo could add some desperately needed dynamic play to Bafana’s somewhat flat midfield play. Mlambo has the ability to turn a defensive move into a devastating attack.

3. Thabo Nodada – Cape Town City

Nodada is another super talented midfielder with the ability to bring some sparkle to Bafana’s midfield play. Nodada has been hailed by his coach, opposition coaches, players and just about everyone else in soccer for his hard work and ability to create magic moments out of thin air.

4. Phakamani Mahlambi – Mamelodi Sundowns

Mahlambi made a high-profile return to South Africa from Egypt recently and has impressed in his two appearances for Mamelodi. Mahlambi scored a goal on debut and was mightily impressive in his second outing.

Mahlambi’s outright pace could devastate the Islanders while his youthful energy will undoubtedly bring some much-needed buzz to the entire Bafana squad.

5. Thembinkosi Lorch – Orlando Pirates

The left-winger has been in epic form for Orlando Pirates but has gone about his business without making as many headlines as some of his teammates. Lorch has played a vital role for Orlando Pirates this season and has he has earned the praises of many for his attentive and intelligent strategic play.
