Bidvest Wits F.C is soon to be a thing of the past as the club closes its doors. Affectionately known as "The Students" and "The Clever Boys" the club has almost 100 years of South African football history behind it.

The club was sold to Bidvest by Wits Univeristy and when they heard that the club was being sold they were as devastated as the fans and players.

“Bidvest were in such a hurry to sell they didn’t give the university time for an opportunity to look for a majority shareholder‚” said an insider with the knowledge of the dealings. learned that the tragedy is that next year would have marked 100 years of football history at the club.

“Wits the football club is celebrating its centenary next year and Wits the university is celebrating their 100 years of existence in 2022‚” one of the insiders told TimesLIVE.

The university had opposed the sale but as a minority shareholder, they were outvoted.

“With regards to the sale of the club and the manner in which it was announced to the public, I would like to reiterate that at the time of the announcement‚ the deal had not yet been signed. Pen has now been put to paper between the new purchaser and Bidvest‚” Bidvest Wits chairman Alan Fainman was quoted as saying in the Bidvest Wits statement released on Thursday.

In other news, reported that South African football has seen some phenomenal coaches over the years and focuses on four of the most successful coaches since the inception of the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

South African club football has been in existence for decades but the Premier Soccer League (PSL) was only formed in 1996.

During this time, football fans have witnessed some special coaches, but four men stand out above the rest.
