- Rangers FC coach, Steven Gerrard has hinted that the club may not have long term space for South Africa's Bongani Zungu
- His harsh hints come after Zungu and other team members attended a house party despite Covid-19 regulations
- While Gerrard did not specifically say he would let go of Zungu, he did say that the team only has space for professional players who are serious about the game
South Africa's Bongani Zungu is treading on thin ice at his international side Rangers FC after he blatantly ignored Covid-19 guidelines and attended a house party that was void of Covid-19 health protocols.
Coach of the Rangers, Steven Gerrard is not impressed with Zungu and those who attended the party and has made this very clear in a statement that was released by the team after several international companies reported about the Glasgow party that was broken up by police officers.
In his statement, Gerrard pointed out that the team was only interested in keeping players on the team that are not only professional but want to be part of a successful football team - and having attended the party, clearly, Zungu is not considered professional by the coach.
Meanwhile, soccer fans have had this to say:
"*seriously, broke Covid-19 rules, attended a party with teenagers. So will be suspended for 7 games. Rangers career over before it even got started."
"5 players do not know how lucky they were to be part of @RangersFC as a supporter of many years I am disgusted that they have let us down, we are the ones part funding their wages through ST, Shares, merchandise etc. They have been given enough info on the COVID-19 #getrid"
Briefly.co.za previously reported that Bongani Zungu's market value is taking a big blow due to the fact that he is getting minimum game time with Scottish side Rangers FC. The young South African player is now worth an estimated R22million.
This is shockingly low considering the player was worth a whopping R65 million during his peak in 2018/2019. His low game time, which is an unfortunate part of Coach Steven Gerrard’s plan for his teams' success, has cost him gravely.
Since joining the Rangers on a loan term basis from SA team Mamelodi Sundowns, Zungu has played a collective of 138 minutes for the team and has appeared 9 times in the league all of which he was benched.
