Yemen's Huthi rebels struck a cargo ship in the Red Sea on Friday, causing a fire on deck in the latest of a near-daily series of attacks in the commercially vital waterway. - 'Threat to commercial shipping' - Sullivan, speaking on a visit to Tel Aviv, said the Huthis were threatening freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, which is vital for oil and goods shipments.

Russia's central bank on Friday raised its key interest rate to 16 percent, announcing a fifth hike since summer in a bid to fight accelerating inflation. Analysts expected the increase as the central bank repeatedly stated its priority to fight inflation, which accelerated to 7.5 percent in November.

Microsoft has seized the websites of a Vietnam-based group it alleges sold millions of fake accounts to cybercriminals who used them for ransomware attacks, identity theft and other scams around the world. The leaders of the group are three Vietnam-based individuals, Duong Dinh Tu, Linh Van Nguyen and Tai Van Nguyen, Microsoft said in a statement on Wednesday.
