LIMPOPO — The South African Police Service at Letsitele in the Mopani District have launched a manhunt following a series of coordinated house robberies at a rental property in Mavele Village in the early hours of Tuesday, 27 October 2026.
SAPS Letsitele shared details of the incident on their official Facebook page, stating that the attack began at approximately 01:15 when a 38-year-old woman and her husband were woken by gunshots at the main gate of their rented home.
What happened during the robbery
After peering outside, the woman counted roughly 20 armed men entering the yard. The group forced entry into the couple's home by breaking through the wall adjacent to the front door, then held both occupants at gunpoint.

The suspects made off with an undisclosed sum of cash, a Samsung plasma television, a cellphone, an HP laptop, a pair of boots, a pair of Nike sandals and the keys to a metallic silver Volkswagen Tiguan belonging to the couple.
The gang then moved through the property, breaking into six additional rented rooms and robbing the occupants of their belongings. In total, seven counts of house robbery were committed at the same premises.
Cars shot at before suspects fled
Before leaving the scene, the group fired shots at six vehicles parked in the yard, causing extensive damage. They subsequently fled the area in a white Toyota Hilux Legend 35 bakkie belonging to the 38-year-old female victim. The vehicle was later recovered, abandoned, within Mavele Village.
Police have since opened 13 cases in connection with the incident — seven counts of house robbery and six counts of malicious damage to property. Investigations are ongoing as SAPS Letsitele continue to pursue the suspects.
