AmaZulu striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has broken his silence after Orlando Pirates midfielder Sihle Nduli suffered a painful injury during Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw. Ngwenya’s second-half challenge left Nduli unable to continue, with the Pirates midfielder stretchered off in the 53rd minute.
According to The South Africa, taking to Instagram after the match, Ngwenya apologised directly to Nduli and stressed that he had not intended to cause the injury.
“I’m sorry my brother for what happened,” Ngwenya wrote.
“I did not do it intentionally. [I] hope you got space in your heart to forgive me. Speedy recovery.”

Nduli had only recently returned
The injury was a particularly unfortunate development for Nduli, who had only recently returned to competitive action. The 30-year-old had been sidelined since November 2025 after suffering an Achilles tendon injury against Golden Arrows.
His latest setback came during a match in which Pirates took the lead through Tshepang Moremi before Ngwenya equalised for AmaZulu shortly before half-time.
Pirates await further news
Nduli’s condition will be a key concern for Orlando Pirates following the incident, particularly given his lengthy previous absence. The match ultimately ended 1-1, but the midfielder’s injury became one of the main talking points after the final whistle.
Ngwenya has now publicly expressed his regret, while Nduli’s recovery will determine the extent of the latest setback.
