Springboks head coach Rassie Erasmus gave fans a rare window into his private life when he posted a relaxed photo alongside his dog, Kwedini, just days after South Africa's narrow and dramatic defeat to Australia in Perth.
The picture, shared on his Instagram account, showed Erasmus in a blue T-shirt, mug in hand, lying in bed with a laptop nearby. Kwedini, dressed in a knitted jumper, was curled up right beside him.
What made the post particularly eye-catching was the caption Erasmus chose to accompany it:
"#kwedini and my stomach are back and alive 🙉 We will fix it 🇿🇦💙"
His post comes just days after South Africa had squandered a 42-17 lead against the Wallabies before Australia held on for a 42-38 victory in Perth.
Erasmus had already accepted full responsibility for the result before the Instagram post surfaced.

"For us, we lost in a Springbok jersey against Australia, and with all the disruptions, we have nobody else to blame but ourselves for the result," he told SA Rugby after the final whistle.
13 changes and a remarkable comeback
The Perth loss followed a significant tactical gamble by Erasmus, who rotated 13 players from the side that beat New Zealand 43-28 in Baltimore to clinch a 3-1 series victory in the inaugural Rugby's Greatest Rivalry series. Only Eben Etzebeth and Ethan Hooker kept their starting berths.
Australia led 24-17 at the break before pulling further ahead to 42-17 by the 65th minute. South Africa then produced a stunning late surge, scoring 21 unanswered points, and the Wallabies were even reduced to 11 players at one stage due to yellow cards. Ultimately, the Boks simply ran out of time.
Who is Kwedini?
For followers of Erasmus's Instagram, Kwedini is a well-known face. The coach has shared numerous moments with his dog over the years, turning the animal into something of a fan favourite. The name Kwedini translates to "boy" or "small boy" in isiXhosa.
Earlier this year, Kwedini even inspired a piece of original artwork. Durbanville artist Craig Stuart painted a portrait of the dog after noticing how frequently Erasmus featured him online. Erasmus later visited Stuart's home studio in person to collect the finished painting.
