What is "Perthfontein"?
The tongue-in-cheek term appears to blend Perth with the distinctly South African place-name suffix "-fontein," a nod to the Springboks' painful 42-38 defeat to Australia in Perth on 27 September 2026.
The loss ended Australia's lengthy wait for a victory over South Africa and immediately became a hot topic among local rugby supporters, which made Lebsta's account of his chat with Erasmus land particularly well online.

Springboks fans react to the selfie
The post drew a wave of responses from supporters. Okkert Greyvenstein (@bokbefok007) was firmly in Erasmus's corner, writing:
"In Dr Rassie we trust... he is a man with a bigger plan..."
Luke Green (@LukeGreenSpitzy) struck a supportive tone as well, asking:
"What did you say to him? That we stand by him 100%. He and the rest of the squad must be utterly exhausted."
Mohammed Kajee (@moekajee) was more critical, raising questions about Erasmus's decision-making around the team's captaincy selection for the Perth Test. Others leaned into the humour, cracking jokes about the result, while several supporters said they were already looking past it and focusing on the Springboks' upcoming November fixtures.
What started as a solo jog ended with one fan walking away with a selfie, a story to tell, and a message from Rassie Erasmus for the whole of the Springbok nation.
