Kaizer Chiefs travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday in a clash against Chippa United.

While many would think that the log leaders can afford to relax against the basement dwellers, Kaizer Chiefs defender Yagan Sasman completely disagrees.

The 23-year-old revealed the significance of the encounter and the short-term objective of the club.

Via the club's website, Sasman explained that the Amakhosi are taking the game as seriously as they would ahead of a Soweto Derby.

Sasman said, “We are preparing for it in the same way as we have in our last games against Sundowns and Pirates."

The defender expects Chippa to put up a big fight as he said, "They come out guns blazing, and we will expect nothing less.”

Briefly.co.za gathered that Chiefs have set themselves a clear short-term goal ahead of the next international window.

Sasman added, "We are looking to get as many points as we can before the FIFA International break, because we want to build a lead over the rest of the pack.”

One can't help but think that Chiefs will still have one eye on the next fixture already as they face Orlando Pirates within 72 hours of the Chippa clash.
