Linda Gcwensa, founder of Avante and admired gospel star, passed away on Sunday, 29 December.

Linda was in and out of hospital as he battled kidney problems for many years, according to SABC News.

He was admitted to hospital just last week as he was very sick once again, just after it was thought that he was getting better.

Sindisiwe Cele, Avante's manager, stated that Linda passed away in the early morning hours.

"He was sick. As I think you know he’s been sick for years. He has been in and out of the hospital and he was getting better, you know.

"He had a problem with his kidneys. He died in hospital in the early hours of this (Sunday) morning about 1.30am."

Briefly.co.za gathered that Linda will be buried on his family farm in Mzembe, close to Port Shepstone in KZN.

According to TimesLIVE, a memorial service will be held at the Ethekwini Community Church on Thursday, 2 January.
