Skeem Saam's storyline intertwined with real life this week when police announced that seven lions were on the loose in Limpopo.
Over the past few days, the viewers of the soapie watched with bated breath as lions terrorised Koloi and his friends during a school trip.
Jonas, Koloi and other friends decided to take a tour of a safari park they had visited without the supervision of their teachers. They got lost in the wild and couldn't find their way back to the bus.
They were then attacked by lions. Jonas was eaten by the beasts while Koloi, played by Tshepo Senatle, managed to escape.
When news broke that seven lions had escaped from their cages at the Ingogo Safaris park, the fans of the show got excited and took to social media. Memes about the lions coming to "finish off" Koloi flooded Twitter.
"These lions want to finish what they started, Koloi is not safe."
"One of them must be the one that chased bo Koloi and finished Jonas."
"If #SkeemSaam waited 2 days then they could’ve shot their scenes with real lions."
"I hope it’s not the same lions that killed Jonas."
"So they looking for Koloi in Limpopo."
Police have confirmed that all seven lions had been recaptured, according to TshisaLIVE.
Briefly.co.za has reported that the viewers of Skeem Saam were eager to see where Sthoko and Meneer Alfred Magongwa's school trip frenzy would lead them to. Not only the pupils were excited by the school trip but the teachers seemed to be on cloud nine.
Fans took to social media to express their views on Sthoko and Alfred's romance during the same trip that Jonas was eaten by lions.
