A podcast clip from the Kasi Jam studio has set tongues wagging after a guest named Sjuku weighed in on Nadia Nakai's rumoured romance with rapper Toss, with the suggestion that the South African rapper may have downgraded from her late partner.

The clip, shared via @saculturecontent on Instagram, was filmed in a graffiti-styled studio setting with neon signage, a branded microphone, and beverage cans on the table — the kind of candid, casual atmosphere where celebrity gossip tends to flow freely. An on-screen text card read "Sjuku on how Nadia Nakai Downgraded to Toss," setting the tone for the segment.

During the conversation, Sjuku was careful to frame his remarks through a protective lens. He repeatedly referred to Nadia as a sister figure, saying he leaves her to make her own choices while still feeling personally invested in her well-being.

"Nadia is my sister, and I leave her to do her things," he said. "I protect her, but I leave her to do her things."

Nadia and Toss: From music video kiss to joint EP

The romance speculation between Nadia Nakai began after the two shared an on-screen kiss in a music video. Since then, they have appeared together in several photos and videos, fuelling public curiosity about the nature of their relationship. The pair are set to release a joint EP, with their track Chomi dropped in November, though the response from fans has been lukewarm at best.

Nadia previously had a high-profile relationship with the late rapper Kiernan Forbes, better known as AKA, who was shot and killed in February 2023 in Durban. Since his death, she has kept her romantic life largely private, which is why any new rumoured connection draws significant attention.

Sjuku stopped short of confirming the two are an item, saying, "You must, you must ask her. I don't know." The framing of the discussion, however, leaned into whether Toss represents a step down from the legacy AKA left behind.
