CCTV Footage Shows Missing Woman Alex Van Heerden Being Abducted Outside Johannesburg Home

GAUTENG - A 26-year-old Johannesburg woman was forcibly abducted outside her home in Northcliff on Wednesday evening, 5 August 2026. Specialised Security Services (SSS) has issued an urgent public appeal for information on the whereabouts of Alex Soleil Van Heerden.

Crime journalist Abramjee posted details of Alex Van Heerden's disappearance and urged members of the public to assist authorities and her family by coming forward with any information that could help locate her.

Woman abducted outside her home

According to SSS, Van Heerden had spent time at News Cafe in Rosebank before boarding an Uber back to her residence at 123 Mimosa Road, Northcliff. At approximately 18:57, as she stepped out of the vehicle, a group of at least three unidentified individuals forced her into a white Renault hatchback and drove off.

The Uber driver, who witnessed the abduction, did not pursue the vehicle. He drove to the nearest SAPS station to report what he had seen.

Video footage of the incident has been shared as part of the public appeal. The recording clearly shows Van Heerden being taken against her will. SSS has confirmed that preliminary findings indicate she did not leave voluntarily.

At the time she disappeared, Van Heerden was wearing a white dress and jacket. She has no distinctive tattoos or markings. A case has been opened at SAPS Johannesburg Fairlands.

How to help find Alex

SSS has been engaging with Van Heerden's family, friends and colleagues to gather any information that could assist investigators. The organisation is also working directly alongside SAPS and other relevant parties in the search effort.

Members of the public who may have seen Van Heerden, noticed suspicious activity near 123 Mimosa Road on the evening of 5 August, or have any other relevant details are urged to come forward as soon as possible.
