Pabi Moloi has finally broken her silence on the long-running chatter about her body transformation, and she made it clear she's not interested in entertaining the conversation any further.

Appearing on Nonhle Thema's show on 23 October 2026, the veteran broadcaster was pressed on why her weight loss had become such a hot topic online. When Nonhle pointed out that people had made Pabi's physical change a major subject of discussion, Pabi said she genuinely couldn't understand why, noting the cruel irony that she was once labelled overweight.

"I/ women can never win, and I'm done playing that game," she said.

What made the interview particularly candid was Pabi's willingness to speak about the emotional toll of years spent being judged on her appearance. She opened up about receiving unkind remarks about her looks for years, including being compared to her mother, a woman she described as "really beautiful." Rather than chase validation through her looks, Pabi said those experiences pushed her to invest in her other strengths.

She told Nonhle that knowing she is funny and "really smart" became far more important to her than meeting anyone's beauty standards.

"When I think about who I am, [what I look like] is not the top five defining words for me," she said.

Years of silence on the weight loss speculation

Public curiosity about Pabi's changing physique first surfaced several years ago, when followers began noticing a dramatic shift in her appearance. That visible change overlapped with a deeply personal period in her life, coinciding with the breakdown of her marriage to Ruan Adams in 2016 and a subsequent legal dispute over the marital estate.

Despite the speculation growing louder during that difficult chapter, Moloi chose not to engage publicly with the chatter, preserving her dignity while the online discourse swirled around her. Her sit-down with Thema marked the first time she directly addressed the subject, and even then, she made it clear the conversation was hers to close, not open.
