Following the tragic death of Anele Ngcongca, the police are launching an investigation into the incident.
The Mamelodi Sundowns defended perished in a car crash on Monday morning, he dies on the scene and the woman who was travelling with him was rushed to the hospital where she is in critical condition.
KZN SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker confirmed that a car crash had taken place near Mtunzini.
Naicker reported that a 33-year-old male died in the car accident as a result of his injuries according to eNCA.
Fans have flooded social media with messages of condolence for the fallen football player. He was recently released from his Sundowns contract to pursue a position at AmaZulu.
Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca passed away in the early hours of Monday morning, 23 November after being involved in a car crash in KwaZulu-Natal. Ngcongca was only 33 years old at the time of his death.
It is unclear whether or not Ngcongca had been travelling with passengers as further information surrounding his death has not yet been revealed to the public.
Meanwhile, taken-aback soccer fans and South Africans have headed to social media to share their thoughts on the soccer star's passing. Many of them have also shared messages of support and condolences with his family.
In other news, former Mamelodi Sundowns player, Anele Ngcongca, passed away following a horror car crash on a KwaZulu-Natal road in the early hours of Monday morning.
Locals have been left reeling by the news of his untimely death, which comes shortly after the death of his ex, Kwaito star Mshoza, who passed away in a Johannesburg hospital last week.
