Tyler Perry used to double and even triple late Cicely Tyson's asking price for "any role he requested I play". This is according to the late legendary actress' new memoir.

A Twitter user posted a screenshot of Cicely's memoir on Friday, 29 January. According to the it, the screenwriter and film producer couldn't believe how little Cicely was paid for her roles on Sounder and The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.

"From then on, he decided to double, and sometimes even triple or quadruple, my asking price for any role he requested that play."

Tyler Perry and Cicely have been friends since 2005 following her role in Tyler's Diary of a Mad Black Woman. Since then, they have built a friendship spanning six films.
