The US trade gap narrowed in November as imports and exports both fell while higher interest rates bite, the government reported Tuesday. Resilient consumption has supported US trade, but analysts have expected the effect of higher interest rates, as it weighs on demand, to add pressure on imports.

Public anger is mounting over what has been described as Britain's biggest ever miscarriage of justice that saw hundreds of subpostmasters wrongly convicted of theft because of a computer software glitch. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has described the scandal as an "appalling miscarriage of justice" that should "never have happened".
