Former Isidingo: The Need and Legacy actress Mary-Anne Barlow has joined the cast of SABC1's soapie Generations: The Legacy as Minkieto.

Barlow will star opposite her former Legacy co-star Kgomotso Christopher, who plays the character of Keabetswe "Kea" Moroka on the soapie.

The SABC1 soapie confirmed the actress's latest role on its Instagram account on Friday, 3 April 2026.

"Casting News: Let's welcome Minkieto to our world, can't wait to see what she has in store for us," said the show.

TVSA reports that the legendary actress Mary-Anne Barlow is famously known for starring on Egoli: Place of Gold as Coreen Edwards, from 1997 to 2003.

Barlow also previously starred on popular SABC soapies such as Skeem Saam, where she portrayed the character of Paddy Bright, and Isidingo: The Need as Beth.

The legendary actress also starred opposite former Scandal! and Isidingo: The Need actress Kgomotso Christopher as Felicity Price in Legacy seasons 1 and 2.

Barlow also played the role of Gail on Mzansi Magic's The River, appeared in season 1 of Inimba as Sarah Roberts, and season 9 of Binnelanders as Dr. Vivienne Armandt

The former Lavish actress also played a doctor in Jacob's Cross as Dr Sam Jones, where she starred opposite her former Isidingo: The Need co-star Hlomla Dandala.

Soapie fans praise the actress on social media

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela praised Mary-Anne Barlow on his X account in 2021 for her role as Felicity Price in MNet's canned telenovela Legacy.

Sparky Xulu joins Generations: The Legacy as Sotshalomtimande Ngwenya

In more entertainment news, Briefly News previously reported that former The Estate actor Sparky Xulu bagged a new acting role on one of South Africa's popular soapies.

He played a character who reportedly has a complicated history with one of the main families in the soapie.

Sparky Xulu isn't the only new face on the soapie, as two more people will be joining him on the show.

The actor shared with Briefly News how excited he is to be joining the TV soapie.
