A newly surfaced video shows Cameron Waldeck-Cooks dancing with friends, offering a glimpse of the St Stithians teenager before her life was tragically cut short. What makes the footage particularly poignant is when it was recorded: just days before Cameron was found dead at a lodge in Sabie, Mpumalanga, on Monday, 3 August 2026.

The Grade 11 learner appears relaxed and surrounded by friends in the clip, a strikingly ordinary moment now viewed in the shadow of the tragedy. Her parents have since shared details that reveal more about the teenager behind the headlines, including the personal goal that had brought her to Sabie that weekend.

Cameron remembered beyond the video

The footage has offered those who knew Cameron another glimpse of the teenager away from the circumstances surrounding her death.

Her parents, Derrick Cooks and Claire Waldeck-Cooks, described their daughter as “kind-hearted, warm and determined”. They also highlighted her “quiet strength” and said she cared deeply about people around her.

The video, recorded shortly before her death, now preserves an otherwise ordinary moment in the life of a teenager remembered by her family and friends for much more than the tragedy.
