Bizarre Moment As Player Is Red Carded for Urinating on the Pitch
- A player was shown a direct red card after he decided to help himself on the pitch while waiting to take a corner kick
- The rare incident saw the player receive his marching orders with the referee far from impressed with his behaviour
- Legendary Jens Lehmann famously took a leak in the middle of a Champions League game during his time at Stuttgart
If you have watched football for a long time, you will realise that one must do something deeply concerning to be shown a straight red card.
You must have a Luis Suarez-like moment of either stopping a definite goal with your hands or biting someone for you to get on the referee's nerves to send you for an early shower. Or you have the temper of Sergio Ramos, and you strongly dislike anyone who tries to dribble past you.
But one thing football lawmakers perhaps never envisaged was a player helping himself out on the pitch. The bad thing about a call of nature is there's no stopping it the way Thibaut Courtois stopped Liverpool from scoring in the 2022 Champions League final.
When it comes, you have to attend to it. There and then.

Player sent off for urinating on pitch
Maybe this was the exact situation Sebastian Munoz was faced with during a Copa Peru match between Atletico Awajun and Cantorcillo FC. The Awajun player went over to take a corner, but it was delayed as the opposite goalkeeper received medical attention.

Munoz then turned to the concrete behind him and relieved himself. And boy, one of his opponents was not happy. Like a kid reporting someone who stole their candy to their parent, the player called the attention of the referee to Munoz, who was still relieving himself in the corner.
The referee was similarly not amused, and Munoz was shown a straight card. Munoz might have been relieved at the end of it all, but this will go down as one of the most embarrassing sending-offs in history.
