Bafana Bafana will face Egypt in Cairo on Sunday, 4 October 2026, with the match scheduled to kick off at 20:00 South African time.
SABC Sport confirmed the details on 30 September, announcing that the match would be shown on SABC Sport, with radio coverage also available through SABC stations and streaming on SABC Plus.
The match will be played at Cairo International Stadium, a venue familiar to Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane from his time working in Egyptian football. SAFA previously confirmed that Egypt had agreed to host the friendly as part of the international window.

South African viewers can watch the encounter on SABC Sport, while SABC has also confirmed radio coverage. The broadcaster said supporters can stream the game through SABC Plus.

The fixture was arranged as the final assignment of Bafana’s busy September-October programme.
Why the Egypt friendly matters
The Cairo encounter gives Mosimane another opportunity to assess his squad against one of Africa’s most established national teams.
When the 30-man squad was announced, Mosimane said the Egypt fixture would provide a chance to test his players against stronger opposition.
“Two qualifiers, one friendly. Everyone understands the importance of the qualifiers,” Mosimane said.
“But Egypt are also a big gun. It’s important to face the big guns.”
Bafana entered the window with a 2-1 victory over Guinea on 26 September, giving Mosimane a winning start in his return as head coach.
South Africa then travelled to Cairo for their Eritrea qualifier on 30 September and followed it up with a 5-0 victory. Relebohile Mofokeng scored twice as Bafana moved to six points from two AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
The team remains in Egypt ahead of Sunday’s friendly against Egypt. Egypt have plenty of quality in their squad, with Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush among the attacking options selected by coach Hossam Hassan.
The match therefore closes a packed first window for Mosimane — and gives South African fans another chance to see his Bafana project take shape.
