SOUTH AFRICA — The Springbok Women concluded their WXV Global Series tour on a high note, defeating Spain 20-0 at the Estadio Olímpico de la Cartuja in Seville on 4 October 2026 to secure their second win of the tour.
Catha Jacobs opened the scoring in the 14th minute, with Jakkie Cilliers converting and later adding a penalty before the break. Aseza Hele crossed for a second try early in the second half, and Cilliers completed the scoring by dotting down in the 67th minute to seal a commanding result.
Coaching staff satisfied with tour outcome
Co-head coach Franzel September, who shares duties with Laurian Johannes-Haupt, said the result reflected the team's character.

"We are very proud of the ladies, who stuck to their guns today in very hot conditions," September said, according to SA Rugby.
"To come to Spain and score 20 points without conceding any points is a good day."
He acknowledged that the team left some chances untaken but was satisfied with the discipline shown throughout the match.
"We neither conceded any cards nor executed high tackles. One of our aims is to be the best disciplined side at the next World Cup, and we set a good standard towards that today," he added.
Injury concerns cloud the result
The win was tempered by injury worries. Babalwa Latsha sustained an ankle injury, while Nombuyekezo Mdliki was carried off on a stretcher. September noted the disruptions were significant but said the team's set-piece dominance despite those setbacks was a testament to the pack's collective effort. He said the coaching staff would await medical reports before making further assessments.
Ireland double-header awaits in Cape Town
With the tour concluded, attention now turns to two home Tests against Ireland, scheduled for 24 and 31 October at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, both kicking off at 15:00. Ireland are currently ranked fifth in the World Rugby rankings, while South Africa sit tenth. The two sides have met only once before, during the 2006 Women's Rugby World Cup in Canada, when Ireland defeated South Africa 37-0 in the pool stages.
September said the squad would return to South Africa on Tuesday before shifting their focus entirely to the Ireland series. The Springbok Women began their WXV tour with a heavy 50-19 defeat to Wales in Cardiff on 18 September, before recovering with a 41-29 win over Italy in Pordenone on 26 September.
Springbok Women make key changes for Spain Test
Briefly News previously reported that the Springbok Women made three changes to their starting XV for their final European Test against Spain, with Babalwa Latsha returning as captain.
Xoliswa Khuzwayo and Patience Mokone also made the starting side, while Mary Zulu joined the squad as injury cover and was added to the replacements. The changes gave the coaching staff a chance to rotate the squad before the Ireland Tests.
