TikTok Celebrates Mzansi Artists for Africa Day: Amapiano to the World

- Video-sharing platform TikTok plans on celebrating Mzansi musicians for Africa Day on the 25th of May

- A number of Amapiano artists have been included in a special playlist to celebrate the occasion

- According to a press release, TikTok has given artists the chance to showcase their music through media

Africa Day is four days from Africa Day and TikTok has launched an Amapiano playlist amongst others to shine a spotlight on the great music that comes from Mzansi and the African continent as a whole.

Forming part of that playlist are artists such as DJ Maphorisa, DBN Gogo, Cassper Nyovest, Kamo Mphela and many more. Cassper Nyovest and J’Something have joined the official campaign to share what it means to be African to them and how that has shaped their music.

In celebration of Africa Day on 25 May 2021, TikTok is shining a spotlight on the African content through a month-long campaign dubbed #IamAfrican. A big part of the initiative is showcasing the unique talents of African artists, which includes musicians from South Africa.

"Through initiatives like the #IamAfrican campaign, TikTok is playing a strategic role in being a key player in promoting music, shining a spotlight on the amazing talent on the continent and uniting the world," said TikTok Content Operations Manager for Africa, Boniswa Sidwaba.

According to a press release sent to Briefly News, TikTok has played a huge role in how music is received today and it's a smart way for artists to put their work on the map.

In other music news, Briefly News reported that Amapiano producer Kabza De Small leads the 2021 SAMA nominations with six nods.

Talented Amapiano music producer Kabza De Small Amapiano has bagged a total of six nominations at the 27th edition of the South African Music Awards.

The star has been nominated in the Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and Best Amapiano Album categories for his album I Am the King of Amapiano: Sweet & Dust.

His collaboration with DJ Maphorisa titled Once Upon A Time in Lockdown scored the Duo/Group of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Amapiano album nods.
