West Brom vs Chelsea: Abraham's late strike saved Blues from 2nd straight defeat

- West Bromwich Albion were forced to a 3-3 draw by Chelsea at The Hawthorns

- The Albion scored three stunning goals in the opening half but failed to hold on to the lead

- Frank Lampard's men fought back in the second half and salvaged a draw for themselves

Tammy Abraham's late minute goal helped Chelsea avoid their second straight Premier League defeat against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

Two goals from Callum Robinson and one from Kyle Bartley all in the first half saw Slaven Bilic's men win the opening half of their encounter.

But the Blues fought back in the second half with Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham all scoring to help the Stamford Bridge outfit share the spoils at the end of the game.

Briefly.co.za learned that the hosts will have themselves to blame for squandering their three goals advantage in the first half - allowing Frank Lampard's men to regain confidence and force them to a draw.

Robinson's stunning low shot from close range in the fourth minute saw The Albion take the lead as they got the game started on a very bright note.

Matheus Pereira created the assist for the opening goal after benefiting from Marcos Alonso's poor clearance a little metres away from the danger zone.

The 24-year-old Brazilian advanced towards the goal area after taking possession of the ball and placed a superb pass to his teammate who fired an unstoppable shot at Willy Caballero's net.

Robinson doubled the hosts lead in the 25th minute after dispossessing Thiago Silva of the ball before racing towards goal and unleashed another low but powerful shot towards goal.

And Kyle Bartley made it three in the 27th minute after tapping into the net from a Darnell Furlong's header in the 18-yard box.

However, they were unable to add to their tally when the game resumed as they allowed Chelsea to gain confidence and find the back of the net three times before the final whistle.

Mason Mount first reduced the Blues' in the 55th minute after launching a long-range stunning strike with Cesar Azpilicueta assisting with the goal.

Hudson-Odoi and new boy Kai Havertz combined to add to their numbers with less than 20 minutes to the end of the meeting.

And Abraham ensured then went back to the Bridge with a point in the bag after scoring from the six yards.

This is definitely not the result Lampard would have wanted, but it is quite better than last weekend's defeat to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

In other news, Briefly.co.za reported that former football player Gavin Hunt was recently named Kaizer Chiefs head coach and not only are fans here for it but so is Hunt's daughter, Kaitlin. Kaitlin Hunt took to Twitter under the handle @KaitHunt14 to congratulate her father on his new position.

Chiefs made the announcement earlier this week that they secured the 56-year-old on a three-year deal. Kaitlin has been posting constantly on Twitter about her father's success and congratulating him.
