Kaizer Chiefs Clarify Venue Confusion Ahead of Siwelele FC Home Clash
Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that their home match against Siwelele FC will take place at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Sunday, 6 September 2026, kicking off at 17:30, following an extended search for a suitable venue.

The club released an official statement on Thursday explaining the series of logistical obstacles that led to the late decision. FNB Stadium, Amakhosi's regular home ground, is unavailable on that date as it has been reserved exclusively for the Springboks' clash against New Zealand — a fixture that requires full use of the venue and its facilities.
**Four Stadiums Considered Before Dobsonville**
With FNB Stadium off the table, the match was initially rescheduled for Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg, Northwest. That venue also became unavailable, prompting Chiefs to explore further alternatives.

The club then approached Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban about hosting the fixture on 2 September, and received written confirmation from the stadium that it would accept the match. However, when Chiefs submitted the proposal to the Premier Soccer League, the PSL informed them that its inspectors had found the pitch unsuitable for the proposed dates.
New Peter Mokaba Stadium was subsequently considered, but the PSL ruled that ground out as well.
Chiefs ultimately applied for Dobsonville Stadium through Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA). SMSA offered Sunday, 6 September, as the available date due to a prior booking at the venue, and the PSL confirmed it as the final match location.
**Chiefs Apologise to Supporters Who Planned to Travel to Rustenburg**
In the statement, Kaizer Chiefs acknowledged the inconvenience caused to supporters of both clubs who had already made travel arrangements to Rustenburg based on the earlier scheduling.
"We therefore wish to sincerely apologise to the supporters of both teams who had already made arrangements to travel to Rustenburg," the club said. "We look forward to seeing you and having a great match in the heart of Soweto on Sunday, 6 September 2026."
The club also noted that the PSL is facing broader stadium availability challenges across the country and expressed hope that those issues would be resolved in due course.
Tickets for the Dobsonville fixture are priced at R80 and are available through Computicket, as well as at Shoprite and Checkers stores nationwide.
