Mzansi fans campaign for A-Reece to win MTV Africa Music Award

- Fans of A-Reece have flooded social media in an effort to help their fave win at the MTV Africa Music awards

- The awards ceremony is returning in 2021 and A-Reece is nominated, among other big names, in the category of 'Best Fanbase'

- A-Reece's supporters did not need further invitation and used the hashtag #MTVMAMAAReece to motivate why their fave deserved the accolade

The MTV Africa Music Awards are back for 2021. Voting for the awards ceremony has begun on the official website and fans have begun campaigning for their faves.

A-Reece's fans have approached the awards with particular enthusiasm and co-ordinated online using the hashtag #MTVMAMAAReece. The supporters have been posting video clips of themselves pledging to vote for the artist in the awards race.

The awards category that A-Reece is nominated in is the one for 'Best Fanbase'.

The Paradise rapper's fans are right to co-ordinate their voting as A-Reece is up against some big names in the category, each with dedicated fanbases of their own.

The other nominees in the category for 'Best Fanbase' are:

Wizkid, Naira Marley, Cassper Nyovest, Shatta Wale, Fally Ipupa, Serge Beynaud, Diamond Platnumz, Eddy Kenzo and Nadia Mukami

The MTV Africa Music Awards are scheduled to be broadcast on 20 February so fans will have to wait and see if their efforts worked out.

Briefly.co.za previously reported on when Bonang Matheba announced that the MTV Africa Music Awards would be returning with a ceremony in 2021.

Queen B was the host of a press conference and announced the news on behalf of MTV Base and MTV Africa. The MTV Africa Music Awards, or MAMAs, celebrate and reward the very best talent that African countries have to offer.

The ceremony will be broadcast virtually, on BET Entertainment and on MTV affiliate channels when it airs in 2021.

Bonang also mentioned that the spectacle will feature performances from cross-genre collaborations and artists from different countries across the continent.

The nominees for the awards will be announced in December 2020 and fans will have the chance to cast their votes for their favourite artists online.

Queen B captioned her post on Instagram by asking her followers how excited they were for the return of the awards show:

Followers commented on how stunning Bonang looked while performing her hosting duties:
