MacG took to social media recently to apologise for the transphobic comments him and his crew made on last week's episode of Podcast and Chill with MacG.

The YouTuber took to Twitter on Friday, 29 January and posted a statement where he apologised to the LGBTQI+ community, his fans and business partners.

MacG and his crew were dragged on the micro-blogging app throughout last week after they discussed sensitive issues about the LBBTQI+ community on his show. MacG's name trended high on Twitter after they published the episode about the LGBTQI+ members.

"During the show, a few remarks were made by our host, the co-host and the Ghost lady which we acknowlegde were very homophic, transphobic and very distasteful. We would like to unreservedly extend our apology to the LGBTQI+ community, our Chillers, and our clients and business partners," read the statement.

Podcast and Chill with MacG shared that they have been able to learn and educate themselves on social issues and now know where they must draw the line following last week's drama.

In related news, Briefly.co.za reported that one of the sponsors of Podcast and Chill with MacG decided to terminate their relationship with MacG with immediate effect. Old Mutual took to Twitter on Tuesday, 26 January and shared a statement distancing itself from the podcast's discussion of the LGBTQI+ community. Old Mutual said in a statement:

"We distance ourselves from the harmful commentary against the LGBTQI community and humanity at large."

Old Mutual went on to say that MacG's commentary was both "ignorant and insensitive". Tweeps were divided and engaged in a heated debate over MacG's transphobic comments. One tweep @Sandile_K14 said:
