Most African cultures frown upon wives who are unable to bear their own children.
Sometimes, they even drive the ladies out of their matrimonial homes and get their “sons” new wives who can pop out plenty of babies.
Margaret Wanjira, a woman now in her 100s, was married to the love of her life at a young age.
She knew her heart beat for her husband and thought they would be together forever. What she did not anticipate were the bumps and cracks that would come her way later.
The granny told journalist Monica Kagoni that she got so much flak from her man’s family due to her childlessness.
She even had to do the unthinkable to ensure that her marriage would stay rock solid. She got her man a second wife.
“I had to find my husband a young woman who would give him kids. He objected at first, but I threatened to leave if he did not marry her. I loved my co-wife and we even slept in the same bedroom,” Wanjira said.
The grandma further explained that despite bringing in a co-wife, she was still ridiculed by her in-laws but tried her best to keep her chin up. However, she tried her best to love and protect the woman who made her husband a father.
Wanjira slept in the same room with her co-wife and treated her like a sister.
“I loved my co-wife so much and I never allowed my husband to hurt her. My man remained faithful to me and would hand over his salary to me. But I was later chased away from his home,” she added.
What made Wanjira happy was that her man was loyal to the bone. He even trusted her with his whole salary and she was always the one who handled his finances.
In other news by Briefly.co.za reported that a woman thanked God as she proudly completed her own home. @MapulaMokgosang (Mapula Milli) shared some amazing news online. The stunning lady now owns her own home.
Mapula's home is made out of corrugated iron and she shared a sweet image of her latest accomplishment to Twitter.
Unfortunately, Mapula received some terrible responses due to what her home is made out of. She thankfully didn't allow the negative comments to affect her and responded only to the congratulatory messages.
