Former students of Louisiana State University, LSU, surprised their longtime university cook Jessie Hamilton, on her 74th birthday by doing something noble for her and family.

The university alumni came together and raised money that they used to clear off Hamilton's mortgage.

The news about the kind students was shared on various platforms prompting other past students of the institution to chip in either financially or by sending birthday wishes to the cook.

one photographer identified as Hilary Scheinuk shared pictures of the event on Twitter saying:

''Today, a group of #LSU FIJI graduates gathered to surprise their house's former kitchen staff member, Jessie Hamilton, by paying off her mortgage. They also celebrated her birthday, coincidentally today, by providing a fully catered lunch for her and her family.''
