Chilling Details Emerge in Boksburg Couple’s Murders As Accused Denied Knowing Where They Were

GAUTENG - A man arrested in connection with the murders of a young Boksburg couple told private investigators he "wished" he knew their whereabouts just one day before police unearthed their bodies in a shallow grave at the back of his own property.

Jessica Rabe, 20, and Yudistan Pillay, 25, vanished on 17 July 2026. Their disappearance triggered six weeks of searching by police, private investigators, and community volunteers before officers began digging alongside the back wall of a Boksburg house last Sunday. The grave, located next to the back door, extended beneath the structure itself.

What investigators found at the Boksburg property

The condition of the burial site pointed to deliberate concealment. Palisade spikes had been driven into the victims' bodies, and cement and acid had been poured into the hole before it was sealed.

In the days before the discovery, private investigators had questioned the occupants of the house where Rabe and Pillay had been staying before their disappearance. Haroon Adam, also known in the community as Tyga, acknowledged that he and Pillay had argued but insisted he would never have harmed him.

"We might have had bad words, but I wouldn't lay my hands on him; he's my laaitie," Adam told investigators at the time.

Adam and his fiancée, Charne Koekemoer, told investigators the couple had left voluntarily on a Saturday morning in mid-July, following an argument, leaving behind all their belongings, including wet laundry and Pillay's Nike sneakers.

Adam said the dispute arose because the two guests had spent most of their time confined to their room rather than socialising. He added that Pillay and Rabe had stayed at the property twice — first for a month, then again for three weeks. According to Adam and Koekemoer, they later delivered the couple's belongings to Pillay's employer.

Adam was arrested last Saturday, while Koekemoer was taken in for questioning. A second man, Wessel Hendrick Swart, was also taken into custody. Swart reportedly directed investigators to the location where the couple had been killed.

The following day, a police team excavated the site and recovered both bodies from the grave beneath the house, bringing a devastating end to the search that had gripped two families and the broader Boksburg community for nearly six weeks.
