GREAT BRAK RIVER, WESTERN CAPE — Four unidentified males reportedly seized a local woman outside a Great Brak River retail hub on Thursday, 29 October 2026, leaving authorities searching for her location. The incident happened less than a month after an Ekurhuleni woman escaped a kidnapping attempt.
Denise Ellie Lewis-Swart was snatched near the De Dekke commercial site and forced into a white GAC M8 Master vehicle before the abductors fled the scene.
According to a statement Yusuf Abramjee shared on X, surveillance recordings from nearby properties reveal the four individuals lingering around the precinct on Wednesday, 28 October, and continuing their watch for multiple hours on Thursday prior to the abduction. The victim's spouse, Ulrich, noted that she had visited the complex during midday to purchase food items and warm beverages.
Kidnapping case opened
Warrant Officer Chris Spies of the Southern Cape police verified that Great Brak River detectives opened a formal kidnapping investigation. Law enforcement officials have not disclosed any ransom communications or suspect detentions at this stage.
