Latest Updates for Gamers: The 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2021

With 2021 having little to no impact in terms of hardware, it is a good year in terms of software - primarily games. 2021 has left many people excited for the new releases, however factors stemming from Covid-19 as well as other sources have presented certain issues, mainly delayed release dates.

The following article contains the latest information for 2021's most-anticipated games (in no particular order).

Horizon Forbidden West

Continuing from Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West is one of the most-anticipated upcoming PS5 games set to be released this year. The game's antagonist Aloy takes her journey west to explore new realms while running into more threats, friends and enemies. GamesRadar got their first look at the game at the PS5 Future of Gaming event in June 2020 and it has been confirmed for both PS4 and PS5.

God of War: Ragnarok

God of War: Ragnarok, originally scheduled to be released in 2021, is rumoured to have been delayed until 2022. While Sony hasn't confirmed a delay, a confirmed release date has not been set and the lack of an update on the game during PlayStation’s February 2021 State of Play has left people expecting a dleay in release, writes TechRadar.,

Halo Infinite

Originally scheduled to release along with the release of Xbox Series X Halo Infinite is stated to be released in November 2021, according to Verlon Roberts, a voice actor who plays Spartan Griffin in the game in a recent interview on the Fadam and Friends Podcast.

Deathloop

The creative team behind Arkane Studios' highly-anticipated Deathloop video game announced it has delayed the game's release until later in 2021, according to CBR.com.

Resident Evil Village

AestheticGamer, who is also referred to as Dusk Golem, a Resident Evil leaker who has been more reliable than not, states that Resident Evil 8, also known as Resident Evil Village, will be the second instalment in a trilogy that started with Resident Evil 7.

AestheticGamer took to Twitter, stating that Resident Evil 7,8 and 9 have an interlocked, planned-out story.

Returnal

Returnal, an upcoming third-person shooter game, is looking to combine its signature gameplay with a stronger narrative, according to developer Housemarque.

Developer Housemarque, which is famous for games such as Resogun and Nex Machina, has decided to shift from the more arcade-like experience shown in previous titles that tended to focus more on the action rather than the narrative to something new when it comes to Returnal.

Far Cry 6

Fans of the Far Cry franchise are left wondering if the game will be released in 2021 following a Twitter reply made by game design director Ted Timmins in response to a fan by the name of Boris, who asked when people would be able to see gameplay footage.

Ted Timmins responded by saying that the team needs more time, but it will soon have ‘exciting things’ to show the fan community.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

Revealed on the PlayStation Store last week was a listing for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade featuring an updated ESRB rating, according to The Gamer. It still maintains the same ESRB rating as the previous 2020 game. Intergrade will also include the addition of blood for the first time in the franchise.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

The latest State of Play Livestream on Thursday revealed the new release date of 24 August as well as its latest trailer for the upcoming Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The game is described as an action adventure and is made by Ember Lab.

It is set to be released in PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC formats.

The legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD

Argos is already offering consumers the chance to pre-order The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword at a £5 (around R100) discount despite it being uncommon for Nintendo Switch deals involving games to be implemented before the game's launch, and especially rare considering the popularity of the title.
