Chippa United goalkeeper Ismail Watenga has fired shots at Kaizer Chiefs, saying they are not scared of the Soweto giants. The Chilli Boys are sitting at the bottom of the DStv Premiership table and will be looking to bag a win to ease their relegation concerns.

Speaking ahead of the match at FNB Stadium against coach Gavin Hunt’s men on Wednesday afternoon, the 25-year-old Ugandan keeper says the mood is perfect in their camp.

The net minder has also acknowledged the fact that Amakhosi is a big team and coming from a win over log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, means the clash will not be a walk in the park. Watenga said as per KickOff:

"The mood in the camp is high and we are so motivated after the draw with Golden Arrows because they are one of the stronger and organised teams in the PSL this season.
"Chiefs are big team, strong team and we respect them, but we are not scared of them. We do not fear them. We will respect them when they have the ball and when we have the ball, we will play them like any other team.”

Having managed two clean sheets in their previous matches across all competitions, the lanky gloveman says their target is the full three points. He added:

"Winning the Kaizer Chiefs game will be important for us because we are not in a safe position. Getting three points is so important for us because we need to survive the relegation and for me a clean sheet is good as an individual and for the team because it gives confidence to us so that we can keep fighting.”

Meanwhile, for Chiefs, the mission is to ensure they win and cement their spot in the top eight. On the other hand, their consistency will be tested, especially after ending Masandawana’s 21-match unbeaten run.

Briefly News reported that Chippa United has appointed Vladislav Heric as the new technical advisor to guide the technical team. The Serbian mentor has been hired to guide the Chilli Boys, especially in the wake of their 1-0 loss to Baroka last week at home in Gqeberha.

Chippa United are languishing at the bottom of the log table, number 15 with 18 points and six games remaining to finish the 2020/21 season.
