The United States has unveiled a comprehensive online portal designed to help international job seekers and potential recruits explore career opportunities within the American armed forces.

The user-friendly platform catalogues 113 specialised listings spanning six key sectors, including science and medicine, mechanics and engineering, support and logistics, signal and intelligence, aviation and aerial defence, and ground forces. According to a report by Briefly News' sister publication Legit.ng, the platform enables candidates to filter roles by service status, military branch, and enlistment option—offering positions in full-time, part-time, active duty, Army Reserve, and National Guard service.

Certain high-demand roles feature enlistment bonuses reaching eye-watering levels, though eligibility varies by field. Specialised healthcare roles—including psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, and paediatric dentists—form a major portion of available listings. Candidates are urged to verify current recruitment regulations through official channels before submitting applications.

Key requirements for non-citizens aiming to enlist

To be considered for enlistment in the United States military, non-citizen applicants must adhere to strict statutory guidelines regarding residency and language skills. According to official guidelines published by USAGov, non-citizens must hold a valid US Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) and demonstrate full proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Crucially, foreign nationals cannot apply for military service as a means to enter the United States or directly obtain an initial entry visa. However, for foreign nationals who already hold permanent residency, joining the armed forces offers a significantly expedited pathway to naturalised US citizenship, dropping the standard five-year residency waiting period down to as little as one day upon entering basic training.
