A viral video has sent Kai Cenat's fanbase into a panic, with thousands of followers flooding the streamer's Instagram comments believing he had been caught up in a violent police encounter in America. The clip, which spread rapidly across X on 19 August 2026, turned out to depict an entirely different person.
Was it Kai Cenat in the video?
The split-screen footage combines a selfie-style reaction shot of a man filming himself against a green-curtained wall with a blue-tinted animated or CGI clip showing a police officer interacting with someone inside a vehicle. The footage stems from a high-speed chase in which 23-year-old Tedrick Washington, the passenger, was reportedly assaulted by an officer during the stop. Washington and the officer can be heard in the clip, with Washington saying, "I got out of the car," seemingly responding to an order to exit the vehicle.
Despite the physical resemblance between the man in the video and Cenat, Grok on X confirmed that the streamer had no involvement whatsoever. The confusion, however, had already taken hold online before the clarification spread.
