Pinetown Girls' High School in KwaZulu-Natal is mourning the loss of one of its own. The school announced on 9 October 2026 that Grade 9 learner Lamla Tenza had passed away, leaving the school community heartbroken.

In a Facebook post shared alongside a school photo of Lamla, the institution expressed its grief directly to families and staff. "It is with profound sadness that we inform our school community of the passing of one of our Grade 9 learners, Lamla Tenza," the school wrote.
The school asked the public to respect the family's need for space during such a painful time. No official reports have been released about the circumstances of the learner's passing. Pinetown Girls' High School confirmed that support would be made available to any learner or staff member struggling to process the loss.
