Joy "Mama Joy" Chauke, the former Orlando Pirates number one fan who now backs Royal AM FC, has tipped Kaizer Chiefs to claim victory in Saturday's Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium.
The Betway Premiership encounter is widely anticipated, with bragging rights on the line between two of South African football's fiercest rivals.
Mama Joy Explains Her Derby Logic
Speaking to KickOff, Chauke made her case for Amakhosi based on what she described as a recurring pattern in Soweto Derby history.
"Kuyokhala abantu [it will end in tears]. Kaizer Chiefs is winning. Forward with Amakhosi," she said.

She argued that the current form disparity between the two clubs actually works in Chiefs' favour.
"In the derby, most of the time it's the team that is not playing well that wins. To balance things. Pirates are winning both here at home and in the Champions League, while Chiefs didn't win in the Confederations Cup."
Chauke added a spiritual dimension to her reasoning. "So since God loves all, he will give Chiefs the derby come Saturday. Without luck, you will never win the Soweto Derby. You need luck to win the derby. Underdogs always thrive in the Soweto Derby."
She also pointed to a specific player as a decisive influence on the outcome. "I used to be a Pirates supporter, so I know how these things work. The Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Ndlovu, will not let these Pirates boys do as they please on that pitch."
Mama Joy's History With Orlando Pirates
Chauke's prediction carries a particular edge given her long association with the Buccaneers. She parted ways with Orlando Pirates in November 2021 after more than three decades as the club's most recognisable supporter, choosing instead to align herself with Royal AM FC as their super-fan.
Her 32-year relationship with the Soweto giants came to a voluntary end, making her subsequent support of rival clubs a subject of ongoing attention in South African football circles.
