In a separate development, Sundowns confirmed that young defender Thato Sibiya has signed a long-term contract extension with the club. The 20-year-old is currently spending the season on loan at French Ligue 1 outfit LOSC Lille under the terms of an existing arrangement.

Lille retain an option to sign Sibiya permanently at the conclusion of the loan period. However, with a buy-out clause now inserted into the player's new Sundowns contract, any permanent move to France would require the Ligue 1 side to trigger that clause before they can acquire his services outright.
