Orlando Pirates have confirmed that they approached the High Court to protect funds linked to financial transactions currently under investigation.

In a statement issued on Sunday, 4 October 2026, the club said the application was a precautionary measure to safeguard its funds while the process continues. Pirates stressed that the legal action “is not a finding of wrongdoing” and should not be interpreted as one.

The club also confirmed that the individual involved is cooperating, while Pirates remains committed to a fair process.

“This is a precautionary step to protect the Club’s funds during the process.”

Orlando Pirates’ official statement

The club stressed that no wrongdoing has been established. Pirates were careful to distinguish the court application from any finding against the individual concerned.

“The application is not a finding of wrongdoing and should not be interpreted as one,” the club said.

It added that “the individual concerned is cooperating” and that the club remains committed to ensuring a fair process.

The clarification comes as the matter moves through the legal system, meaning further details will depend on the court proceedings and ongoing investigations.

The club has therefore avoided commenting on the underlying transactions while the matter remains before the High Court.

Pirates reassure supporters and sponsors

Despite the legal development, Orlando Pirates said its normal operations would not be disrupted.

“Our supporters, partners and sponsors can be assured that the Club’s day-to-day operations and commitments continue as normal,” the statement said.

The club added:

“Our focus remains on the team and the season ahead.”

Pirates also confirmed that it would provide further updates when it is able to do so.

For now, the club’s position is clear: funds are being protected while investigations continue, but the High Court application itself should not be treated as a determination that wrongdoing occurred.
