"The Soweto Derby represents everything that makes South African football special: the passion, the rivalry and, most importantly, the supporters who bring it to life," Shield said.

He added that the presence of a figure of Henry's stature during the league's milestone anniversary makes the event even more meaningful for supporters.

Henry speaks out ahead of his visit

Henry addressed his upcoming attendance in an official statement released by the PSL, acknowledging the fixture's global reputation.

"I've experienced some incredible football rivalries around the world, and I know how much the Soweto Derby means to supporters in South Africa. I'm excited to experience that atmosphere at FNB Stadium and to meet some of the fans who make the occasion what it is," he said.

For Henry, the visit fills a notable gap in his experience of world football's great derbies, having competed at the highest levels across Europe during a career that included stints at Arsenal, Barcelona and Monaco.
