Cheslin Kolbe posted from his hospital bed on Sunday, 6 September 2026, the day after fracturing his jaw in the Springboks' 29-24 victory over the All Blacks at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. The post stopped South Africa in its tracks.

In a carousel shared on Instagram, the Springbok back took a moment to acknowledge the flood of messages he had received following the injury, which occurred on 5 September 2026. He also singled out his wife, who had flown to Johannesburg to be by his side.

Teammates rally around Kolbe
The response from within the Springbok squad was immediate. Jesse Kriel, Damian de Allende and Ox Nche reacted with love.
Kriel wrote,
